update

Postby Melissa C » Sun Jan 24, 2010 9:31 pm

Hi everyone!!! Been a while since I posted so I thought I would write a little update. Still losing weight...sometimes it seems to be disappearing too slow, but I know patience is not my strong suit. I am down almost forty pounds since my banding in July. I am almost into "teen" size clothing. Getting ready to purge my closet of some clothes that are gigantic on me now. I have had three adjustments to my band thus far. I am using fill centers USA. The lady who fills my band is excellent, but she is the closest person and it is a three hour drive both ways from my home. Worth the drive though. I find it kind of funny how my body is changing. Losing weight in my arms, face, hands, feet, and even my chest....wish the stomach fat would go first!!! Don't want to end up looking like Humpty Dumpty! I have a health coach and have joined a gym. Looking forward to getting under 200 pounds, hopefully before summer gets here! Well wishes to everyone on our journey of healthier living.

Hi Melissa,

Glad to hear you are doing good! It does take some time--I'm not patient either! I wish I could just go to sleep and it would be done! I have found (with frustration!) that the spots i stopped on the way up are the same places I am stopping on the way down--really can be frustrating at times! But I know I just have to wait it out and then I start down again.

Just remember to follow good band guidelines for your meals--don't fall to the temptation of gimmicks out there.

Hi Melissa,

Thank You so much for the update!! It sounds like you are doing amazing!!! I love that you've joined a gym and are seeing a health coach!!

Patience has never been my strongest quality either... I've had my lap band for almost five years now and I remember those first few months after my surgery and wishing the weight would just "fall off" and although at the time it seemed like it was going to take "forever" I lost 80 pounds prior to my one year anniversary with the band and now that just seems like so long ago! One day...years from now...you'll wake up and look back on the first months with your lap band and think "wow, look how far I've come since then" ...it's an amazing feeling!

Keep us posted,
Shelby
